Fun with our dear friends in Athens, GA

I will never tire of watching these two playing and growing up together! They are too funny together! We stopped here to load up on carbs before the kids sprinted up and around the paths of the zoo! We were lucky to see some cute black bears who weren't hibernating, really.
Being silly! Really, this kept them giggling for quite some time! Taylor eventually turned around to open the door inside and got stuck. Oh well.

Truly, an AMAZING friend! I am so fond of all of our memories together! We have so many, "do you remember", times. Our military paths crossed and now we have moved apart, but I will always have such a bond, it will be fun to see where the road takes us!

Merry Christmas!

Just some holiday pictures, I thought I would share. The last one you can see I am starting to finally gain weight! Blah! That is the prego face! I shouldn't have had my hair back! This is in Savannah, GA. We stood in front of the Christmas tree in the lobby of our hotel. We had a great time in Savannah, although I didn't get too many pictures to share. Maybe I will share what I took. Maybe... Merry Christmas everyone!

Homemade Spaghetti Sauce

Just wanted to share with you that I am trying some new recipes to expand on my knowledge of food. It will be challenging maybe, but fun! Here is one we just loved! One thing I will say: We didn't mind leftovers with this one! Also, next time I will cut the recipe in half!

Homemade Spaghetti Sauce

Source: My Kitchen Cafe

3 tablespoons olive oil

2 cups onion, chopped and divided

1 red pepper, coarsely chopped

2 pounds hamburger (at least 90% lean)

5 cloves garlic, finely chopped

1 12 oz. can tomato paste

1 teaspoon kosher salt

1 teaspoon black pepper

3 teaspoons dried oregano

3 teaspoons dried basil

1 1/2 teaspoons dried thyme

2 14-oz. can Italian-style diced tomatoes

2 28-oz. can crushed tomatoes

1 carton fresh mushrooms (optional)

1 1/2 cups beef broth

2 tablespoons brown sugar

2 bay leaves

2 tablespoons balsamic vinegar (I don't remember if I added this or not)

Heat olive oil over medium high heat. Add 1/2 of the onions and saute until translucent and slightly browned. Add garlic and stir constantly for 1 minute. Add beef and cook until no red is showing. Drain beef slightly. Blend up the remaining onions and red pepper in a blender or food processor until mostly smooth. Add mixture to the garlic, onions and beef and stir to combine, cooking for another minute. Add tomato paste and spices and cook for 1 minute, stirring until combined. Add tomatoes, beef broth and sugar (and mushrooms, if using). Stir until combined and add the bay leaves. Bring to a boil and then reduce to low and simmer for 1 hour, stirring occasionally. Fifteen minutes before serving, stir in the balsamic vinegar.

NOTE: The sauce will seem watery at first but will reduce to perfection after simmering for an hour. I've let it simmer on the stove for up to three hours before with no problems.

Happy to sit with Santa!

Taylor told Santa he wanted a big dog. Well, Santa isn't going to deliver, which will be sad for a moment. Thankfully, Taylor will get over it and perhaps will have no memory of ever asking! Thankfully, Santa was very nice and looked very good this year!

Pictures from Italy

I am finally getting to adding photos Casey took while in Italy. Most of the pictures are taken in Venice. He loved it!!! He wants to go one day as a family trip! One day! I am dreaming of it now! Anyway, I don't have names of the squares or cathedrals that you will see, but you can look at the pictures and enjoy them none the less!

Daddy's home! Yippee!

Some of the guys Casey worked with.
This is where he slept. On the bottom. Do you see the belt/strap. That was in case the ship rocked you could attach it to the top rack so you didn't fall out. Casey said it was like a coffin. He wasn't lying! Could you imagine?! Sorry babe, glad you are home to a king bed!!!
This is all the space he has to put his things underneath his little tiny mattress.
On the ship~Posing!

He studied so hard and long to get pinned. Yeah, he did it! Congrats babe!

This Sunday's pic of the week...

You gotta love 'em! Kids, I mean! Taylor loves to get attention so if we laugh, he laughs and does it again. You don't even have to say, "I dare you!" (He is sucking on a lime.)

Thanksgiving

This is Robby, Taylor's buddy.
Here is Taylor. He is REALLY enjoying his cranberry dish! Several times he placed his open hand in the mix and painted the table with the red sugared side. Most of it went into his mouth and he asked for seconds and thirds.
There was so much good food! Let's see, turkey, broccoli soufflé, real cranberries, garlic mashed potatoes, spinach salad with bacon, radishes and boiled eggs, the best cornbread stuffing ever!, poppyseed rolls, and then pumpkin pie and loaded brownies! I think my baby grew the most tonight! My belly was so hard and full, yet oddly enough I didn't have heartburn, I thought I might, but thankfully I didn't!!! Man the food was the best!
This is Brunswick. He is the best well behaved dog ever!!! Taylor likes him and he doesn't bark because he has been trained so well! He is 3 years old and can give a high five, fist pound, say I love you, wait to eat, wait to go chase a ball, and well, this is partly why Taylor keeps insisting on getting a dog!

This is one of my girlfriends, Lexi. She is amazing! She is one of the first girls I met in the moms groups here and her husband is a fire-fighter. She single-handedly made Thanksgiving for the both of us and the kids!!! Plus she just moved into her house about a week ago. She is still unpacking. She is one of the 8 girls in the bookclub/playgroup that we have going. Thank you Lexi for a great Thanksgiving!!!

And so...

What a gigantic play structure! I was worried, rather petrified that I might need to go in and rescue my son who was the youngest/smallest/slowest/inexperienced to go through this playground of sorts! There were three levels and three slides and multiple tubes that even if I had to go in, I would probably get lost myself! Eeek!
Mind you, this is the step to get in. The inside ladders and such were for bigger kids too, but Taylor didn't mind and tried and tried until some little girls adopted him and helped him master the structure! He was scared apparently at some of the slides at the top because they were twirly slides and really dark! Thankfully, the little girls encouraged him (or so I hope that is what they did and not pushed him, although in the end he didn't care either way) and he came down giggling and wanting to go again! Really, except that he wanted to climb back up the slide rather than go back through the maze to get to the top again!
He was having a ball! There were kids everywhere! The little girls screaming and giggling made the place echo of children that several times Taylor called me to wave from the top and I could hardly hear him!!! He was flying a plane and driving some cars on the second level and then crawling through a tube up top and calling my name every time he could see me!

This is the structure from outside. This was right near the gas station and well, not that I ever eat at McDonalds or want my kid to eat there, I thought it would be fun for Taylor to play a little and get some energy out since we had been inside all day considering the cold and I spent most of the afternoon trying to free Taylor YET AGAIN, from one of the rooms that has a lock. The key that works on one door doesn't work on the other so I had to get some scissors and eventually jimmied it open. In all we had a good day and Taylor had fun playing with the BIG kids!!! The food was horrific, but I expected nothing more, so..... too bad they don't have this somewhere else! Oh, and Taylor wants to come back with his daddy. Maybe we will just come for a soda next time!

Today's vocabulary lesson~

I hope to gain wisdom by expanding my vocabulary somewhat. Today in my reading I stumbled upon these words.

1) In The Wednesday Sisters: "She's what I was raised to aspire to be, a nice girl married to a filthy rich man." To which Linda said, "A nice, vacuous girl,: and Kath said, "Right," and Linda said "Whose husband kept a mistress, Kath," and Kath, to her credit, said "Right" again.

Vacuous:–adjective
1. without contents; empty: the vacuous air.
2. lacking in ideas or intelligence: a vacuous mind.
3. expressing or characterized by a lack of ideas or intelligence; inane; stupid: a vacuous book.
4. purposeless; idle: a vacuous way of life.

I guess, I should have known that one! Vacuum, duh!

2) Same book: "It's about this girl who's trying to be a writer but her mother and her fiance just assume it's a dalliance she'll give up when her real life- marriage and babies- begins."

Dalliance:–noun
1. a trifling away of time; dawdling.
2. amorous toying; flirtation.

20 weeks pregnant

Thought you all might want to see my prego figure! It really is unnoticeable, I feel guilty using the pregnant parking spaces! I know I catch people suspiciously looking at me but I figure they are there for pregnant people. I am tired, but don't waddle yet so forgive me! I am sure if my body showed differently people would just be like, "oh, I wonder when she is due?" But instead they think that I am scamming on parking! Oh well, if it isn't one thing it is another.

Frightening!!!

This is our Book Club! It is such a great group! Although some our missing, we had a blast! One mamma delivered her baby and the other was having labor pains the night of. We always share intimate things and eat and comment about books we are anxious to get to next. It has been such a pleasure to get to know these women and in a short time feel like they are my intimate friends from Georgia! What works out fabulously is that all of our kids play so well together too! One day, should they all sit still, I will post a pic of all of them together (the kids that is).

Taylor's "Aminals"

Here is the Animal Parade. We take these EVERYWHERE! I love them! They are better than stuffed animals! They go in the bath, outside, in the car (on occasion) in the suitcases, in purses/bags to a restaurant, in the stroller, in the dish washer, ect. You get the point! Some of these are from Target and I can't remember the brand but they are the heavier ones that sink to the bottom of the bath. The other cheapo kind which, well, are just as sturdy and stand up to the biting (of other children), throwing, and falling off of something, are still my kind of toy! There is "Mama Elpant", "Daddy Elpant", "Neck" (the giraffe, who consequently has a long neck)", "Wart Hog", "Leper" (a leopard), "Dinatore" (a small dinosaur), "Hippo", and just added to the collection "Horsie". We lost Lion in San Diego, sadly! But I did want to share the picture of the beloved animals because we load them up every morning with us to take them around the house. They go in Taylor's lap, or sit next to him on the couch when we read, or watch a movie and Taylor likes to feed them imaginary food too! It is pretty funny! Thankfully, they stay relatively clean with bathing and such! Otherwise they would be NASTY! Just wanted to share with you one of our 2 Year Old Obsessions!

Happy Halloween!

I know it is late and I should have posted these pictures a while ago, but I know you might have wanted to see our Halloween costumes and friends. We had a great time! It poured rain after we visited 2 houses so we returned to shelter, but as soon as it was over we hit the streets. Taylor loved it! Tic o Teet is what he said and well, he liked the candy collection process too! If you ooohed and awed the kids costumes he liked that and IF... IF you had animals that came to the door with you to pass out candy and socialize, Taylor was in HEAVEN! He only tried to go into a couple of homes. Oops! He obviously knows the word candy now and it is regularly used in his dinner petitions! {What do you want for dinner... CANDY!} The next day he wanted to go Trick or Treating again to which I had to explain that sadly, you only go begging door to door once a year! (That is what is the acceptable tradition.) Thankfully, it is only once a year!!! Some of the pics you are looking at are of Taylor with his friends Jackson (the dinosaur) and Jonah (the spider). My girlfriends are both pregnant and both blonde so the spider mamma is Katie due to deliver any day. And the other gal is Amy, (the Dinosaur's mom) and she just delivered a BEAUTIFUL baby boy named Tucker on the 9th. Amy's husband Sean, is seen in the pictures and he is such a great sport! He pulled the kids around the neighborhood when they weren't up for walking. In all, it was a night to remember! I am sorry that Casey had to miss out because I know it would have been a fun for him to witness Taylor's first Halloween! I got to tell him about it and it made his day! One thing that I will never forget about the night (and I am sad I didn't take a picture of one) is the number of kids and parents Trick or Treating in Golf Carts! Some were loaded with teenagers and others were parents with all the little ones. Either way, can't you walk??? Lazy bums! I mean not trying to be rude, but since it is my blog I am just saying! Hahaha! Next year I will take pictures for proof. I hope you enjoy the pictures!

"Think I'll take a load off!"

We just finished eating at Red Robin's and I guess Taylor is FULL! We decided to go with our friends to Babies R' Us just to give the kids a chance to stroll before loading them up to go home to bed. Taylor is dying for his own lounge chair, I guess... He wanted to sit in this and so I took advantage and shot this. Now, where is his foot rest and bag of potato chips? Oh and a big 7 Eleven slurpie or coke? If only!!!

I think this is funny!

Not the best of pictures, but aren't the things in the road called Speed Bumps? Here in Georgia, apparently not! Road humps is the new terminology. They have these everywhere!!!

All I want for Christmas~

This has got to just make you say "Awh!" Taylor just had a ball chasing this kitty all around our friends yard! Luckily, the cat could outrun Taylor but it was so much fun watching Taylor run, and run. Then the kitty would hunker down and snap his tail and T would come out and try to get it and pick it up or pet it or whatever he was doing. It was so funny! Then, he got his hands on the thing and if he had had the hold right he just might have held it all afternoon and brought it home with him in his car seat. He wants an animal real bad and so as he begged for "more meo" which means I want to play with the cat some more... I told him I would tell his daddy. I did ask for details from T, before I talked to dad and he would like a black cat. Additionally, he would like a dog. I think he will take what he can get! I know that he is a smart cookie so who knows what he will ask for next?! At least he can't write to Santa yet~ I can just imagine the lofty requests!!!

This week's photo:

I couldn't help myself since I have my camera with me most days and this is a great sign! My son would totally appreciate it if he was older! I think it was cute! His Mimi, calls him Master Taylor, this is only fitting! Hahaha!

Baby Girl Tibbs

This is the baby waving to you all! Hi world!
Her features are very obvious... it looks like she has a pointed nose.

Just a little bit bigger but still you can see her nose and the profile. I don't know that she will have big lips but it will be amazing who she will end up looking like. We will see...

Just to rant...

Well, I have to rant about something. I have visited some local churches, yes, church shopping still, and it creeps me out that you don't even fill out a visitor card and they hunt you down because they don't know your kid. Anyway, before I caught wind of what these churches were doing I was filling out all the things they ask you on your child's registration form. Normally it is all standard procedure. Well, I have been called, emailed, mailed, and visited by all churches thus far and tonight I was visited by one of the same churches!!! Taylor was stripped down upstairs and my doorbell rang, twice. I thought it could only be my neighbor, why would they ring twice. I ran down and told Taylor to wait and hold his tooth brush... Well, it was 2 older gentlemen and they were making a 2nd visit. Why the first visit wasn't enough, I don't know. I told them that I had already been visited and that my son was waiting upstairs... that didn't matter. They asked me when I was saved and I told them it was a long time ago to which they replied not very long ago since I was merely a child. Okay... Well, I told them that I explained all this before to which they said well they would update their notes and then come back another time when my husband was home. Oh I forgot that they asked to come into my home. I said that my husband was deployed (they asked Iraq? I said yes, I know I lied! Sorry!) he wasn't going to be home anytime soon! Really, how many times are they to visit you??? Is it until you become member of their church??? They asked if I had been back and I said I was new to the area and still church shopping. You don't need to return to a church if it wasn't for you, come on! Whatever... I have been all over the country and have visited too many churches to know that if you didn't like the church you can find another one that suits you. Whatever. Anyway, they apparently took notes after I talked to them last time (different 2 men) because they knew I was pregnant it was in the notes they had with them. I didn't write that in the children's registration form for Taylor. Ergh!!! If they visit me again I am going to go mad. I feel like if I am going to visit a church, I should have someone watch Taylor so that I can avoid all this mayhem! The churches around here (not all) stalk you I guess for more numbers... I don't know. I know I could be possibly over-reacting, but, this is the second visit and they said that they wanted to come back again... Um NO! I give up!

STRAIGHT OUT OF THE CAMERA SUNDAY

This is one reason that boys are so much fun! They always are into something and they always know how to make you laugh! At a restaurant in order to pass the time, I guess, Taylor poured out salt and sugar in a bowl and while we weren't looking, he was licking it out of the bowl, hence the wetness on his chin. Looks like he has salt for a mustache and pepper for a beard. Huh! Thankfully, we are not charged for salt and pepper!

In effort to vamp up the blog...

I think that sometimes I have so much to add to the blog and other times I have nothing! Sometimes I am busy and sometimes I am on the computer for hours which I shouldn't be. Well, anyway, I am going to start having more entries based on themes incorporated in my posting. I am going to start out with posting every Sunday one picture straight out of my camera. I got the idea from "The Daily Meme". On Sunday I will post STRAIGHT OUT OF THE CAMERA SUNDAY. I also will be reading more and will be updating my library. Let's see how fast I can read! I am sure I will be doing other crazy things too but we will see.

Our Book Club

We are missing 2 great girls in this picture, but these are my newest friends here in Augusta! We have already bonded so well that I am truly blessed! I am thankful for always having been surrounded by the most caring and devoted friends!!! So that you may come to know them too since I will probably post more about them and their families, clockwise, starting just to my left is: Tracie, Katy, Elizabeth, Katie, Lexie and the 2 missing girls are Michelle and Amy. We just discussed Snow Flower and the Secret Fan and really, it was a great book. Now we are reading Twilight. Next, I think it is the Wednesday sisters or something. Anyway, we have a good thing going here and I just wanted to share some of my joy!

Hi Daddy, we miss you!

Taylor got a really nice gift from our wonderful friends in San Diego! One of the many things was a Harmonica. Here, Taylor wanted to play a song for his daddy. I hope you like it! He got a little camera shy and didn't want to sing his ABC's, but maybe next time. We really do miss daddy very much and we hope he knows we do! Kisses honey!

Mmmmmm Yummy!

Mmmmmm yummy! Taylor had a hard day this day! His daddy said goodbye, he pee'd his pants and I didn't have an extra change of clothes and we found a Halloween costume for him and I wouldn't let him keep it on! I had to wash it first! Many tears were shed but we got through the day and we stopped for a free ice cream, yes free. Taylor got purple dinosaur flavor and loved it! I mean loved it! He even got sprinkles over the top. He didn't get the concept of licking the sides so every time it dripped on his hands he was upset. Now we know where to go for a nice treat. Sorry Taylor that it isn't really ice cream weather anymore! Oh well.

We are almost halfway to Halloween~

This year, Taylor got 2 pumpkins! Oh boy! He had to hold the small one in his lap the whole way home and it rolled off his lap, my goodness, you would think it was the end of the world! I hope to make a great pumpkin cheesecake from that small one! Yippee!
Last October, we went to a great pumpkin patch at Bates Farm on the outskirts of San Diego. The Lookabaugh family came with and I don't think we bought a pumpkin because we weren't in a neighborhood of kids and no one trick -o- treated. He did like the pumpkin that could fit in his hands though. That was a fun trip!

Taylor's very first Halloween we were in Fresno, away from daddy. This was when the fire's broke out in San Diego and we escaped all the smoke! Taylor got to keep this pumpkin and we still have it! I think it is one of the very few fall decorations I own!

I hope you enjoy looking back as I did at how Taylor is growing up! I have several more pictures to post from this years fabulous Pumpkin patch event! Stay tuned!
