Speech

Speech a video by tibbsmamatibbs on Flickr.

Here we are at speech therapy. The technique she is using to help Reagan is called "prompt". It is great at word formation and I have seen much improvement from Reagan. Plus the therapist is wonderful!

April 27th

Wow!  Has it been that long?  The Master's came through and Easter, in what order, I don't remember.  We have been busy, busy, busy, and then today we piled in the car for Reagan's two year old appointment and Trent's 9 month check.  We got down town for an early appointment at 8:30.  By 11 we were finally on our way home and it already registered 87 degrees.  Anyway, Reagan didn't have a fun appointment at all, in fact she had to get a finger prick which was fine at first, but when they keep squeezing and pinching your finger it doesn't feel good at all and she was yelling.  Trent was exhausted but luckily didn't need shots like his big sis.  He was fussing in the stroller and I had the ipad on with Blues Clues on for the little ones.  It really provided no distraction what-so-ever for Reagan who also got stuck in her leg.  She was so riled up and unconsolable.  Casey came with us for the appointment and took Taylor down for orange juice and coffee in the Mc Donald's down on the main floor.  What a fun dad!  They hung out and walked around so that Taylor and he wouldn't be so cramped in the exam room for the entire appointment.  Thank goodness!  We love you daddy!  Anyway, daddy couldn't stay, but the Doc was certainly glad to see him for a minute.  She just loves him!  She can't wait for the Kellogg's cereal box to come out and I guess she has told everyone she knows.  I just think the whole thing is funny!  We went over Reagan's growth charts and it showed her weight which was all over the place.  It followed no curve but went high and low and back and forth, really!  It was all over the place!  We decided that this was to do with her swallowing issues and no desire for eating or drinking sometimes when she is afraid she will choke.  She is healthy now and of course has never been failure to thrive so there is no real alarm, but we need to be careful.  We also discussed the need to continue speech therapy considering a two year old needs to have a vocabulary of up to 50 words.  Reagan isn't even close to that and sometimes refuses to talk at all.  She signs thank goodness, it definitely helps!  However, you all, already know all of this.  At 2 years old she is 27 lbs. and at 9 months, Trent is 21 lbs.  Trent, is in the 62% with weight and is average for height, but so far, he is showing to be smallest still for the Tibbs' family.  He is sturdy though and can hold his own.  He is going to be walking and talking before too long, we all know it!  He may shoot through the roof and be bigger than Taylor one day.  Who knows.

There is no telling why she is crying.  Maybe she is thirsty, tired, mad that she got shots, oh, maybe he bumped her leg where she got her shot?!  Oh... maybe that is it.

This is how we roll!  Taylor, happy as a clam, Reagan, fine now in the back and not bothered, and Trent, eager to get something or get down so that he can go... go... go...

Here he is for a moment waiting for me to open the gate to the playroom.  He was in the family room and I sat on the couch for a minute with the older two and he was gone.  He wants to play all the time!

Pumping some lead.

Practicing different settings on my camera.  Look at that stud!  He is a stud muffin!

I am crazy for his blue eyes, oh is he saying something?  Hmmm-

Is this a smile... nah-

Show off!

Okay, back to work.

This is his weight room.  Taylor apparently tells everyone that he likes to work out too.

The end.  I need to practice more with action shots.  Way to go!  You're don't a great job!

I made my own yogurt.

Yeah!  I finally made the yogurt.  I was nervous it wouldn't work, nervous it would be acidic, nervous it wouldn't get firm, everything!  I didn't even have a thermometer.  I researched the science behind it and got out my crockpot and used some Dannon vanilla-lime and didn't even add an ounce of sugar.  It didn't firm up very well at first so I tenderly carried the swaddled crockpot up to my attic for a couple of hours and voila!  It was made and we ate it almost all up in one sitting.  Some we added a bit of honey and then I added some jam, just a bit... It was great.  The other jar is whey.  You know, like from "Little Miss Muffet", eating her curds and whey.  I am right now also on an endeavor to make perpetual soup.  It is going to help me with meals during the week.  I can't wait to taste it and use it.  I am saying bye-bye to all store bought broth.  I am learning how to use a whole chicken and, get this AND we even ate liver the other day and yes, we loved it.  The kids, not so much, but I am going to keep up on it.  Next we will look into chickens and goats, just kidding everyone.  Well, maybe not.  Happy living is great!
