The Alamo

We decided to take the kids for an afternoon of history and social studies.  We did a quick children's version, you must understand, with a stop in the gift shop area where there is a complete rendition of the Alamo in miniature form with people and bloodied officers and ladders the they used to scale the walls.  You can even see the miniature guns and weapons of all sorts if you look.  Anyway, we read some abbreviated history to them and walked through the halls and saw a room for their "sick bay," and they were showing a movie which would have been fun except you have to pick and choose, would you rather disturb a group of really interested tourists, or just go again when the smaller two are much more excited about historical showings.  It was really fun with all of the people swarming and there was even a man yelling outside the front courts about injustice of something.  They had carts selling ice'es and horse drawn carriages parked all around the perimeter.  Boy did we see a lot!  We even went to the River Walk after and~ or was it before... well anyway, we saw loads of people and crazy things.  For example the man across the river from us was dressed up in some sort of mascot outfit yelling about something and then we saw the river cruises with crazy tourists.  It is so nice to sit and relax in front of all of the activity and know that you have all the free entertainment you could possible want right at your fingertips.
