Fun road trip to Atlanta

Just home from a trip to Atlanta, Georgia. What a long drive! I don't think anyone likes it! We left Wednesday afternoon and stayed overnight in a hotel and boy did we learn a lot! Some of the things we learned: even if you bolt the door and use the locks to prevent people from coming in, your children can still climb up on chairs and other furniture to unlock them~ ha!; your kid doesn't care that he is naked as a jay bird, he still would love to leave your hotel room and run down the halls to find the elevator; even though you may have separate rooms, your child will still find a way to come into your room over, and over, and over again; when the concierge gives you each a cookie at the front desk and you feel like they shouldn't be eaten but you save them and hide them out of view and think they won't be found, know that your child will find them and eat them all!; It is fun to open the closet doors and put trash cans on your head and leave phones off the hook. This is all we learned in the hotel room. Interestingly enough, we had plenty of other things we learned. Mostly that our child is interested in the most random things but also the most disgusting things. We had pulled over to a restaurant to eat and in the bathroom even though I had told Taylor to stay out of the trash a million times, he reached in and pulled out a tampon. I was horrified! We later went to the Atlanta Aquarium and they had areas for the patrons to touch fish, sea stars, sting rays, sea anemias, and such, would you believe that Taylor didn't want to touch any of these things. I don't believe he was timid but rather interested in other things, like the lady with a puppet otter on her hand that we kept pretending it would get him. As much as we thought he would be interested in the fish, he went from window to window of fish running because it only took a second to see what he wanted. That is unless it was a huge window of every imaginable fish he would stand there forever. He and daddy stood looking at whale sharks and mana rays with 11 foot wing spans forever! It really was thrilling! We took Taylor to a 3D show with animated fish and that was fun! He enjoyed getting wet and the bubbles they showered us with. Casey and I kept giggling to ourselves when Taylor tried to reach out and grab the fish in front of him. It really was fun! Needless to say, Taylor went without a nap today, even though he was TIRED! We couldn't pass up stopping at some shops and looking at things we don't have here in Augusta. We ate like king and queen at some restaurants and Taylor loved every minute of that! He asked if he could try daddy's tomato juice for breakfast. That was funny! Very quickly did he decide that he didn't like it! As far as Atlanta went, we had a ball! It was raining cold all day but I think that we have learned that you make due here in Georgia since it rains A LOT! I unloaded our umbrellas right before the trip, (sigh) considering it was beautiful when we left. Oh well! We had fun running in and out of the rain. Nothing we couldn't handle. I think we made some pretty swell memories!
